Overview
The Therapeutic team takes a whole-of-family approach. Participation of family members and carers in therapeutic work is vital to support the child or young person. We also acknowledge the significant impact that sexual abuse and or problematic and harmful sexualised behaviours can have on families and carers ensuring that they too receive support.
We do this by helping families and carers understand what has happened, what the impacts are and how they can best comfort their child to help them heal.
Benefits of counselling
Kids First understands that sexual abuse and problematic or harmful sexualised behaviours impacts on children, young people and their families/carers. Our service will therefore support your child to process their experience in a safe and supportive way.
We recognise the benefit of a therapeutic support and consider the age and stage of development of the child and young person and work toward building resilience and safety for their future.
SACPP is an evidence-based program.
